Title: Data Analytics in Crowdsensing: Big or Not?
Abstract: While mobile computing community is desperately branding crowdsensing as its edge to catch the hype of big data, we believe that the current mobile crowdsensing applications have not reached the era of big data; in other words, existing crowdsensed data can be readily handled by conventional statistics and machine learning techniques. Nevertheless, this does not suggest that data analytics for crowdsensing is a well-addressed problem. In this talk, we use a few of our on-going projects to demonstrate the major challenges faced by crowdsensing, in terms of both making use of the not-very-big data and making the data bigger.
Bio: Jun Luo received his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, and the PhD degree in Computer Science from EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne), Lausanne, Switzer- land.
